Barclays Beefs Up Wealth Management Unit in NYC

Barclays has added a quartet of investment reps from Deutsche Bank and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney to bolster its wealth and investment management group in New York.

Here’s a closer look at the new hires, all of whom will report to Mark Stevenson, Barclay’s managing director and regional manager for New York:

-- Mark Leyton comes aboard as a managing director from Deutsche Bank’s private wealth management division where he focused on creating customized solutions for ultra high net worth individuals, corporate executives and professional investors. Prior to joining Deutsche in 2004, he advised high-net-worth clients at Salomon Smith Barney and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Leyton holds a B.A. in Economics from Union College in New York.

-- Zach Shillingford, a new director, also joins Barclays from Deutsche Bank’s private wealth management group. Prior to joining DB in 2005, he was an advisor to high-net-worth clients at Janney Montgomery. Mr. Shillingford holds a B.A. in Economics from Villanova University.

-- Gannon McCaffery, returns to Barclays as a vice president. In his most recent position with Deutsche Bank’s U.S. private institutional client group, McCaffery offered capital market solutions to ultra high-net-worth clients and family offices. Prior to joining Deutsche in 2010, he worked for five years in the investment bank at Barclays where he focused on the structuring and distribution of fixed-income products. Mr. McCaffery holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia.

-- Darin Laub also joins Barclays as a vice president after 13 years at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Mr. Laub was a financial advisor serving high-net-worth individuals and families. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he worked at Prudential Securities in the Private Client Group. Mr. Laub holds a B.A. in Political Science from Boston University.
