Wells Fargo Sweeps Up Six Advisors From Rivals

In a flurry of recruiting, Wells Fargo Advisors has picked up six financial advisors from Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch and UBS.


The half-dozen advisors manage a total of more than $500 million in client assets.

UBS Recruits Advisor Managing $500 Million

Merrill Lynch has lost an advisor managing $500 million in client assets to UBS Wealth Management Americas.


Advisor Stephen Davis, CIMA, will join UBS' Westlake Village, Calif. office. Davis generated annual revenue of about $2.6 million while at Merrill Lynch.

Raymond James Lands $2 Million Wirehouse Team

A former Wells Fargo advisor team has left the wirehouse to join Raymond James & Associates, the firm's employee broker-dealer.


Wood Asset Management generated annual revenue of about $2 million while at Wells Fargo, according to a spokesperson for the Raymond James. The team, comprised of advisors Robert J. Wood, Robert J. Wood, Jr., Carlton L. Brown and client service associate Lola Wright, joined Raymond James' Richmond, Va. office.

D.A. Davidson Hires Merrill Executive

Regional firm D.A. Davidison has hired former-Merrill Lynch executive Jason Woodward as director of new advisor acquisition and training.


Woodward will oversee recruitment at the Great Falls, Mont.-based wealth manager., which has more than 400 financial advisors.


“Jason’s passion and commitment will serve Davidson well as our company continues its growth,” said Jim Kerr, president of Davidson Companies, D.A. Davidson & Co.’s parent company, in a statement. “His work will allow us to ensure we have the best professionals, with the right talent and skills, to keep providing our clients with the truly personalized service they have come to expect.”

Wirehouse Breakaway Advisors Join Focus Financial

A Merrill Lynch advisor team with $750 million in assets has moved over to the Focus Financial Partners network.


Advisors Herman Rij, Jason Cort, Brian Cort and Kori Lannon, working from their newly-formed Quadrant Private Wealth of Bethlehem, Pa., made the switch this month. Rij, the senior-most member of the team, started his career in 1969, according to FINRA records. He joined Merrill in 1971. Cort joined the wirehouse in 1997, and his brother Brian became a Merrill advisor in 2002. Lannon signed on in 2007.

Benjamin F. Edwards Grabs 4 Wells Fargo Advisors

Four Wells Fargo advisors have left for wealth manager Benjamin F. Edwards.


Advisors Kent Lipham, Thomas M. Carter, Leon B. Hirsch and a senior financial associate, Cheryl Sikes, are joining Benjamin F. Edwards in Pensacola, Fla. They will run the firm’s 45th office location. A fourth Wells Fargo advisor, James Stein, joined Benjamin Edwards in Canton, Ohio.
