Advisors on the Move

It's been a busy recruiting year for some firms, and Raymond James & Associates is no exception. The firm swept up advisors managing about $2 billion in assets, including a $900 million from J.P. Morgan and a Merrill Lynch team with $535 million in assets. But the regional firm wasn't alone. UBS pulled in a $2.5 million producer, Wells Fargo added a team with $443 million in AUM and HighTower lured away a Merrill advisor managing $225 million in assets.

Merrill Lynch Team With $535M Leaves Wirehouse

Raymond James & Associates enticed away an advisor team managing $535 million in client assets from Merrill Lynch.

The group consists of team leader Samuel Spanos and advisors Gennaro Marsico, Todd Todorich, Robert Lewis, George Kruth, Mark O'Leary, and Joseph Thompson.

They team, known Spanos Group of Raymond James, generated more than $5 million in annual revenue while at Merrill. They joined Raymond James in Beaver, Pa.

Raymond James Biggest Recruit in 2014

An advisor team managing $900 million in assets joined Raymond James & Associates.


The four-person team left J.P. Morgan, where they generated $6.7 million in annual revenue, to open Raymond James' first office in Manhattan.


The group, now known as Quattuor Capital Partners of Raymond James, is led by managing director Howard Franzblau and includes managing directors Richard Devine, Wayne Froud and David B. Brennan.


Brennan will also serve as branch manager.

UBS Pulls in $2.5M Advisor

A $2.5 million producer left Morgan Stanley for UBS.


Advisor Charles D. Day joined UBS as a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager in Greenwich, Conn., where he reports to branch manager Ed Emanuel.


Day managed approximately $181 million in assets while at Morgan. He moved to UBS with senior wealth strategy associate Paul Gerardi.

HighTower Picks Up Wirehouse Advisors With $225M in AUM

A Merrill Lynch advisor managing $225 million in assets went independent with HighTower.


Advisor Doug Conklin reunited with another Merrill team that had left the wirehouse earlier this year. Conklin joined the Ezzell group, a Sacramento, Calif.-based team comprised of Jason Ezzell, Alec Fisher and Gina Clark.

Merrill Lynch Sweeps Up Advisors With $550 Million in AUM

Merrill Lynch pulled in advisors managing more than $550 million in combined assets from UBS and Citi Personal Wealth Management.


A four-person UBS team with $395 million in AUM moved to Merrill's Beaumont, Texas, office, where they report to Hong Ogle, director of the firm's Houston complex. The team is comprised of advisors Heath McGallion, Christopher Davis, Stan Davis and Hugh Hawkins.


Advisor Mario Fratto left Citi Personal Wealth Management where he managed $153 million for Merrill. He joined the wirehouse's Rockefeller Center office in New York, where he reports to Michael Simonds, complex director.

Stifel Advisor Jumps to Raymond James

Raymond James & Associates recruited a $2.5 million producer from Stifel Nicolaus.


Advisor David Gunter joined Raymond James in Oil City, Pa. Also moving with Gunter were registered service associate Karen Wygant and service associate Cindy Restauri.


Gunter managed more than $191 million in client assets while at Stifel.

Raymond James Nets $220M Team

A veteran father-son advisor team left Wells Fargo Advisors to join Raymond James & Associates.


Erwin Bry and his son, Terry, joined Raymond James in St. Louis. They previously managed $220 million while at Wells Fargo.


The elder Bry began his advisory career 1969, according to FINRA records. In 1982 he joined A.G. Edwards. The younger Bry joined the firm in 1985. Lori Fugate, sales associate, also moved with the team to Raymond James.

Team With $463M in AUM Joins Wells Fargo

A UBS team managing $463 million left the wirehouse to join Wells Fargo Advisors.


The team, led by advisors James Percifield and David Heeren, generated $3.5 million in annual revenue in San Francisco.


The group, known as Madison Street Financial Group, operates out of two Wells Fargo offices: Chicago and Chesteron, Ind. Also moving with the team is advisor Brad Harber.

Raymond James Hires New Branch Manager

A financial advisor left Ameriprise to join Raymond James & Associates as a producing branch manager.


Aaron Tellez joined Raymond James in Newport Beach, Calif., but will move to a new Irvine, Calif., office in 12-18 months. He reports to complex manager Jerry Conn.

Ameriprise Recruits Advisors With More Than $150M in Combined AUM

Ameriprise Financial lured away two financial advisors from Raymond James.


Advisor Mitchell McCann moved from Raymond James Financial Services to Ameriprise's employee channel, joining the firm in Farmington Hills, Mich., a suburb of Detroit. He reports to branch manager Mark Feiler.


Steven Miller joined Ameriprise's independent channel from Raymond James. He managed more than $44 million in assets.

Wells Fargo Adds $1.24M Producer

An advisor generating $1.24 million in annual revenue joined Wells Fargo Advisor's wealth brokerage services division.


Jeffrey Heimstaedy was previously with Oppenheimer & Co., where he had $113 million in assets. He had been with Oppenheimer since 2008.


Heimstaedt joined Wells office in Newport Beach, Calif., where he reports to Phil Winterson, regional brokerage manager for Los Angeles and north Orange County.

UBS Nets $1.5B Advisor

An advisor with $1.5 billion in AUM left Merrill Lynch for UBS.


Advisor James Hulburd joined UBS Private Wealth Management in Walnut Creek, Calif., where he reports to complex director Stephen McCashin.


He combined his practice with UBS advisor Brian Sharpes. Client service associates Trivia Kramer and Mei Yuen also moved with Hulburd to UBS.

Merrill Names New Complex Director

Merrill Lynch hired William Thomas, a former football pro and Merrill advisor, to serve as San Francisco complex director


William Thomas, who once played defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks, joined Merrill from Metlife where he was a managing director. He originally joined Merrill in 1995, according to FINRA records.

Raymond James Grabs Wirehouse Team With $116M in AUM

An advisor team managing $116 million left Wells Fargo Advisors for Raymond James & Associates, the firm's traditional employee broker-dealer.


The team joined Raymond James in Louisville, Ky. They report to branch manager Thomas Hirsch.


The team, now known as Walsh Jaggers Group, is comprised of advisors Robert Walsh and Travis Jaggers and client service associate Starr Michelle Epperson. They generated more than $900,000 in annual fees and commissions.

U.S. Trust New Hires

Bank of America's U.S. Trust division announced the following hires:

Euching Lin and Felicia Yieh Pan joined the firm's New York office as private client advisors.

Don K. Smith joined the Boston office as a private client advisor.

Brian Sheehan became a private client advisor in West Hartford, Conn., while Brian Fink joined the firm's Westport, Conn., office.

Aimee Troy is now a senior trust officer in Florham Park, N.J.

Carlos Rodriguez joined U.S. Trust in Tampa, Fla., as a wealth strategies advisor.

Private Client Advisor Brent Smith joined the firm in Washington, D.C.

Elizabeth Leicht joined as a senior trust officer in Houston while Todd Braulick became a private client advisor in San Antonio.

In Las Vegas, Shirley Cruz was promoted to private client advisor. She was formerly a private client manager.
