Wilmington Trust has named a regional president to run the firm's family wealth division.
Bill Lafond will oversee the delivery of advice and services for many of its most prominent client families and will be based in Wilmington, Del., the firm said.
Lafond was previously the regional president for the firm's Wealth Advisory for Washington, D.C., and central Virginia. He has been with Wilmington since 2004.
Lafond takes over his new role from Kemp Stickney, who was serving as both head of the family wealth division and chief fiduciary officer. Stickney will now concentrate on the latter role.
The realignment is part of a strategic initiative to give greater focus to individual lines of business in the wealth division, a Wilmington spokesman said.
"Bill's deep wealth advisory experience and commitment to our clients makes him the ideal person to lead our family wealth team," Mark Graham, an executive vice president with Wilmington's Wealth Advisory, said in a statement.
The family wealth division has 120 advisers, nearly all of them based in Wilmington, Del., the firm said.
