A Merrill Lynch advisor who generated $1.3 million in annual revenue has left the wirehouse to join UBS, a spokesman said.

James Lipari joined the Swiss-owned firm in Kansas City, where he reports to Mike Mimick, complex director.

Lipari managed approximately $230 million in assets while at Merrill, UBS said. He had been with that firm since 2003, according to FINRA records.

Lipari, who is a CFP, works with families, entrepreneurs and executives, according to UBS. His support team includes Margaret Prescotte, senior wealth strategy associate, Kay Buel, client service associate, and Alin Frentzen, who is in a financial advisor training program.

UBS has recently made several notable hires. Among the wirehouse's recent grabs: A Morgan Stanley team that oversaw $950 million in assets. That team, consisting of advisors David Sobocinski, Julian Frank, Marc Wong and Mark Remigio joined UBS in Melville, N.Y.

UBS also lured away four Merrill Lynch advisors who generated $4.5 million in annual revenues. Michael Carr, Kirk Ruth, Jeff Hogue, Jeff Rizzo joined a new UBS office in Gainesville, Fla. Altogether, the four advisors had $870 million in AUM while at Merrill, a UBS spokesman said.
