BNY Mellon Asset Management tapped Christopher Sheldon as its new chief investment officer of The Dreyfus Corporation, the New York-based asset management and distribution firm overseeing more than $400 billion in mutual funds and separately managed accounts.
Sheldon previously served as director of investment strategy and president of the BNY Mellon Funds at BNY Mellon Wealth Management.
In addition, he was previously managing director of BNY Mellon Wealth Management's group on the West Coast, is a national speaker on issues of investment strategy, the financial markets and the economy, and a frequent guest on Bloomberg and CNBC.
"Our chief investment officer is a key member of the leadership team at Dreyfus, and I am pleased to welcome Chris into this role," Dreyfus CEO Jon Baum said in a statement. "His knowledge and strategic insights, exceptional judgment and strong communications skills will be great assets to us as we continue to become an even greater force in the mutual fund industry."
Sheldon replaces Phil Maisano, who retired earlier this year and, will officially start in his new role on Nov. 1.
