Tom Galvin, North Atlantic regional director for the firm, said Raymond James aims to add more advisors like the Carrolls. The company has been picking up a number of new recruits recently, such as Patrick O’Donovan, who has joined the Indiana management team from SunTrust and a fellow husband-and-wife team from Morgan Stanley.

The Carrolls' client roster included doctors, corporate executives, business owners and women investors, they said.

In making the move, Marty Carroll cited Raymond James' corporate culture and what he called its' focus on the advisor-client relationship, saying these "were critical factors in our decision to join Raymond James."

The duo, along with senior client associate Jodi-Lynne Michaud, will operate as Carroll Wealth Management Advisors of Raymond James.

The couple was not immediately available for comment. Merrily Lynch did not respond to requests for comment.

A former U.S. Marine, Marty Carroll joined Merrill Lynch in 1998, according to FINRA BrokerCheck records. His wife joined the team in 2015 after spending 18 years working in the non-profit industry, focusing on disability advocacy, according to Raymond James.
