Orion Advisor Tech's McLaughlin stepping down as president

Wealth innovator heavyweight Brian McLaughlin is stepping down as president of Orion Advisor Technology on Sept. 27. 

McLaughlin was co-founder of the customer relationship management (CRM) software developer Redtail Technology, which Orion bought in 2022. He has since helped develop and grow new advisor tech applications within Orion, including an AI-backed investor behavioral tracking tool called PulseCheck, as well as an app that streamlines different Orion services and platforms on one dashboard.

"Following much self-reflection and careful consideration, I've made the decision to step away from the day-to-day responsibilities of my role as president of Orion Advisor Tech at the end of September," said McLaughlin in an emailed statement. "After more than twenty years of pouring my heart into co-founding and building Redtail and then leading technology at Orion, it's time for me to step away from the day-to-day responsibilities as president and shift my focus to take on new challenges."

He did not disclose his next career plans. However, McLaughlin will continue to serve as an active member of Orion's Board of Directors and an advisor consultant on special projects until the end of the year. 

Orion is one of the largest wealthtech players in the market, serving roughly $4.4 trillion in assets under administration and $69.4 billion of wealth management platform assets.
