Raymond James Names COO for Private Client Group

Raymond James & Associates appointed Tom Walrond chief operating officer and senior vice president of the firm’s Private Client Group, according to the group’s president, Tash Elwyn.

Replacing Walrond as North Atlantic regional director is Tom Galvin, who will oversee Florida and several northeastern states in his new role.

“Both Tom Walrond and Tom Galvin bring experience as financial advisors and branch management at all levels to our leadership team, further strengthening our organization and helping us continue to grow through attracting and retaining the industry’s best financial advisors,” said Elwyn, in a statement. “That’s foundational to our vision of being the premier alternative to Wall Street.”

Walrond is a veteran of the financial services industry, having started in 1988 as a financial advisor at Wheat First Butcher Singer in Philadelphia. He started at Raymond James in 1998 as a branch manager.  He became manager of the firm’s North Atlantic complex in 2006, and was later promoted to North Atlantic regional director in 2012, overseeing 35 branches and 133 advisors.

Walrond is a graduate of Drexel University.

Galvin has worked at Raymond James since 1997, having started as an intern before transitioning into the role of a financial advisor the following year.  In 2001 he became branch manager for Raymond James’ Jacksonville, Fla., branch office. Galvin was promoted to manager for the Southern Coastal complex in 2006, and then regional director in 2012. He is a graduate of the University of Texas El Paso.
