Janney maintaining active recruiting pace in Q2

Janney Montgomery Scott is picking up its recruiting pace where it left off in the first quarter, adding two teams with a combined $373 million in assets.

Janney brought on 14 advisors managing nearly $1.1 billion in assets in the first quarter of this year. A trend of surging new hire is spreading across the regional BD space.

The latest additions to Janney’s expanding footprint are two teams based in Atlanta and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Schultz Wealth Management, is led by Jeff Schultz, who joins Janney as a vice president. Schultz has 26 years in the wealth management industry, according to FINRA BrokerCheck. He is accompanied by Kevin McKane, account executive, and Allison Odenthal, who manages private clients. Together they manage $181 million in assets, according to Janney.

Schultz was previously affiliated with Raymond James, which did not respond to a request for comment on the move.

Janney's other new hire, Somers Wealth Management, was previously affiliated with Stifel, Nicolaus & Company, and has $192 million in AUM.

The team is led by vice president Lisa Somers and advisor Brenda Somers, who have a combined 40 years of industry experience.

Lisa Somers previously worked for UBS Financial Services and Prudential Securities, according to BrokerCheck. Brenda Somers served as a police officer for Whitehall Township Police Department prior to joining Somers about a decade ago, according to the company.

Stifel did not respond to a request for comment.
