The FPA has named Laurie Belew, a senior financial adviser with FJY Financial in Reston, Va., the 2014 FPA president-elect of the FPAs NexGen community.
Belew has been an FPA member since 2004 and served on the task force for the group's 2007 and 2009 NexGen conferences. She will become FPA NextGen president in 2015 and currently is co-leading the mission to bring FPA NexGen events to the associations Washington, D.C., chapter.
As part of NexGen leadership, it will be my goal to more deeply engage our membership, to maintain focus on the original mission of the community, and develop leaders who will pick up the torch for years to come, says Belew, who earned her M.S. in personal financial planning and an MBA from Texas Tech University.
Andrew Sivertsen, a financial planner with The Planning Center in Moline, Ill., the FPA NexGen 2013 president-elect, will take office in January. That's when Jennifer Quigley, the current NextGen president and a senior manager withHarris SBSB in McLean, Va., steps down.
FPA NexGen looks forward to Belews leadership and passion as she helps to deeply engage the membership in fulfilling the mission of transferring the wisdom, tradition and integrity from the pioneers of our profession to the next generation, Siversten said in a statement.
The FPA NexGen community was created for members age 36 and under. Members interact with each other through local chapters, the FPA Connect NexGen online community, FPA meetings and events, and the annual FPA NexGen Gathering.
