Sacha Millstone, the daughter of a journalist and stay-at-home mom raising her and three younger brothers, admits her parents knew very little about money while she was growing up. She, however, took an interest in the stock market and would eventually go on to earn an MBA at George Washington University.

Later, after becoming an adviser at Smith Barney in 1986, she discovered clients who also had a limited knowledge of finance.
"There is a crisis in financial literacy in America," says Millstone, now working for Raymond James. "There are so many people that don't understand the basics about money, and it doesn't matter what socioeconomic status they're in."
Millstone, an early adopter of socially-responsible investing, saw her chance to crusade for financial literacy after attending University of Colorado Boulder's Conference on World Affairs about two years ago. She met members of indie rock band Gooding during the annual forum on international affairs and has since joined in their cause to educate students on the importance of financial education.
Now serving as board president of the band's charitable organization, Funding the Future, Millstone has helped raise money to sponsor Gooding concerts that incorporate financial education into the performances.
"It is the most interesting thing I've ever done," she says, "It makes me feel like we're having a really big impact on these kids' lives.

Millstone has has even gotten Raymond James to be an official show sponsor at the Gooding concerts.
"This is a perfect way to deliver a message that bores some people to tears, and it's cool," she says. "The kids think it's cool."
