With our annual rankings, Financial Planning recognizes the industry's top-producing young financial advisors at wirehouses and regional firms.
On a combined basis, the Top 40 Brokers Under 40 generate nearly $207 million in annual revenue — an average of nearly $5.2 million per broker, per year, similar to last year — and oversee more than $53 billion in client assets.
Financial advisors earning a spot in the 2024 edition come from eight different firms: Merrill, JPMorgan Chase, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Ameriprise, Janney Montgomery Scott, William Blair and RBC.
For at least the fifth year in a row, Merrill had the most brokers in the group, at 19. UBS followed with nine.

What does it take to retain these young, top-producing brokers? Tobias Salinger's story, which can be found in the March 2024 edition of Financial Planning, explored that topic. Read it here:
A note on methodology: Nominees for the rankings were age 39 or younger as of Dec. 31, 2023, and were registered with a wealth management firm in the employee channel. FP uses production totals that are verified by each broker's employer to determine the rankings. The reported trailing 12-month production and AUM are as of Sept. 30, 2023.
